16 Abandoned And Decaying Hotels From Around The World

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Around the world stand empty hotels that symbolise the loss of prosperity and the death of dreams. Lavish resorts and small hotels which were once filled with life and activity are now abandoned and filled only with decay. Abandoned hotels range from decrepit to like-new and exist everywhere from remote parts of the globe to modern urban cities. These abandoned hotels serve as reminders that even the best laid plans don't always work out over time.

Ticketime

Ticketime by Designers Jacky Wu, Neo Chen & Eric Liu is a boarding card and a wristwatch all in one. Before your departure, the airline company would preset the watch to the time zone of your destination. It is returned to the airline counter during your check-in upon your return flight, whilst still serving the purpose of a flight ticket.

Got Wine? Let It Flow

Monday, April 28, 2008

Real elegance exists in simplicity, and the simply elegant design in this photo is a perfect example. It's called the Flow™ and its sensuous path was inspired by the flow of liquid. Add function to the Flow, and mysteriously, it becomes a rather elegant wine rack for the wall!

Friday, April 25, 2008

Retro and vintage designs are often considered as being outdated, looking old, unattractive and dull. That’s not true. Although compared to modern design, retro is mostly a completely different realm, it has a large variety of benefits modern graphic designers often tend to overlook. And that’s a pity.

Searchme incorporates Cover Flow in search results

Online search engine Searchme has a very cool search result interface that mimics Apple’s Cover Flow seen in iTunes and iPod-related products. The search function is intuitive to an extent because it brings up categories based on relevance to your search query. All of this happens as you type out your search request. Pretty neat.

Virtual Wall

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

The Virtual Wall provides a barrier made up of plasma laser beams depicting pedestrians doing what they do best and any car that crosses that barrier suffers the consequences. Okay so maybe those lasers aren’t powerful enough to do any harm but the effect is enough to make drivers and pedestrians alike follow crosswalk rules to the tee.
